About The Alma Guesthouse

Welcome to Alma Guesthouse, a peaceful retreat tucked away in the leafy suburb of Rosebank, Western Cape. Our guesthouse is more than just a place to stay — it is a piece of local history lovingly restored and thoughtfully reimagined for modern comfort.

A Home With History

Alma Guesthouse occupies one of Rosebank’s original early-20th-century residences. Built in 1900 by Mr. Pillans, the house began its life as a Victorian-style farmhouse when Rosebank was still a quiet, semi-rural settlement on the outskirts of Cape Town. Surrounded by open land, orchards, and the early railway line, the farmhouse stood as part of the area’s agricultural heritage long before Rosebank grew into the vibrant, central suburb it is today.

Over the decades, the house remained a cherished family home — its architecture, high ceilings, wooden detailing, and generous proportions reflecting the charm and craftsmanship of the era. As Rosebank developed, the property evolved with it, yet the original spirit of the home remained untouched.

A New Chapter

More than a century after its construction, the farmhouse underwent a careful and respectful renovation to become Alma Guesthouse. Our vision was simple:
preserve the heritage, honour the history, and elevate the comfort.

Today, the guesthouse blends its historical character with fresh, modern finishes. The original structure, garden layout, and design elements have been lovingly retained wherever possible, while newly upgraded suites, contemporary bathrooms, and curated interiors ensure a serene and stylish stay for every guest.

contemporary comfort.
